Children’s Lessons 4-12
The Arizona Snowbowl Ski & Ride School is proud to offer specialized lesson programs for children ages 4-7 and 8-12. Our exciting SkiWee and MiniRider programs are tailored for 4-7 year olds, while our Mountain Kids programs for 8-12 year olds emphasize independent learning and confidence building for older kids. All lesson programs focus on fun and skill development in a relaxed, easygoing learning environment. The safety and needs of all participants is our highest priority, and our instructors are trained to adapt teaching styles to different ability levels and personalities.

COVID-19 Safety Guidelines
- The Ski and Ride School provides an important service for new skiers and riders and students wishing to improve their skills. By following defined protocols and taking necessary precautions for safe interactions, students and instructors can enjoy a safe and memorable learning experience.
- Face coverings are required for all students and instructors, and all lessons will take place outdoors, including breaks – there will be no group indoor breaks. Please plan and dress accordingly.
- All lessons must be purchased online to help manage daily student capacity and instructor inventory.
- Daily temperature checks will be required for all instructors, and students and instructors will receive symptom and exposure questionnaires upon their arrival to the ski area for ski school.
- Students will proceed directly to the on-snow check-in area instead of indoors and will be connected with their instructor at that time.
- Instructors will be managing groups to allow for increased physical distancing and independent learning wherever possible.
- Safety on chairlifts is paramount, and students too young to ride chairlifts by themselves safely or those who require additional assistance will be seated with another instructor or guest.
Important Information
Plan ahead:
- Eating a healthy breakfast, being rested and hydrated will help lead to an enjoyable experience while at the resort, for both you and your child.
- Keep a few nut free snacks in their pocket to keep your child’s energy level high while in their lesson.
- Children will need waterproof jackets, waterproof pants and waterproof gloves (mittens are preferable for younger children), goggles or sunglasses with UV protection, and sunscreen of at least SPF 15.
Say goodbye for the day:
- Please inform your child/children that they will be away from you the duration of their lesson.
- We recommend that you say your goodbyes quickly at check-in and let the staff work their magic. Children tend to transition much faster once parents are out of sight, both in the center and on the slopes.
- We encourage parents to watch all lessons from a distance. Please don’t call out or distract your child while they are in their lesson.
Tips for comfort and safety:
- Dress in layers so you can remove jackets under layers and sweaters if you feel warm.
- Wear water-resistant clothes to stay warm and dry. We do not recommend wearing cotton outerwear, including jeans.
- Wear only one pair of calf- high socks, preferably those made from wool or another water-resistant material.
- Arizona Snowbowl’s high elevation amplifies the impact of the sun. Be sure to wear sunscreen and lip balm with sun protection, and bring a pair of sunglasses or ski goggles, which will also help reduce the glare from the snow.
- Helmets are recommended for all participants.
