Dear Snowbowl guests and family,   We continue to investigate the mechanical issue that closed Agassiz Lift last Saturday, January 18 (read: An Update On Agassiz Lift) and as of today, January 23, we do not have a scheduled opening date for the lift. Earlier this week we said we anticipated the closure would not last more than a week or two and we can say – with confidence – it will not open this weekend, although we remain cautiously optimistic that the fix can be made within two weeks. Blue Skies, Fresh Snow

With 2″ of fresh snow in the past 48 hours and bluebird weather, skiers and snowboarders were treated to perfect views of the San Francisco Peaks and surrounding cinder cones. Take a look at the today’s views from around the mountain!

An Update on Agassiz Lift

Dear Snowbowl guests and family,   On Saturday, January 18, Snowbowl’s triple chairlift, Agassiz, experienced a mechanical issue that closed the lift and Agassiz has remained closed since that time. We’re currently investigating the issue and have every intention of running the lift as soon as possible. Our priority is our guest and employee safety, and we will not operate the lift until the mechanical issue has been resolved.    Please know that we’re working very hard to resolve this quickly – and thoroughly. New Year, New Snow

The first powder day of 2020 has officially arrived! We received 9″ of new snow since Thursday, bringing our season total to 11.5 FEET. Check out the photos from today, and get ready for a weekend of sunny bluebird skies and fresh snow.

Holiday Powder is Here!

Christmas is over, but we’re still basking in the holiday glow – we’ve received TWO FEET of powder in the past 3 days! Arizona Is Open!

At 9am today, the Grand Canyon Express high-speed 6-pack chairlift started turning marking the start of the 2019-2020 season. With 3″ of new snow since yesterday and a 22″ storm total, we are beyond excited to announce that Arizona is officially open 9a-4p daily for skiing and riding!

Two lifts – Grand Canyon Express and Little Spruce conveyor – and 7 trails opened today, offering access to beginner, intermediate, and even advanced terrain. The wait is over — can you believe opening day is tomorrow?! We couldn’t be more excited to kick off another incredible season by being the first ski area to open in Arizona, and Mother Nature brought the goods just in time. With the storm rolling in Tuesday night, we received 4″ by Wednesday morning and a whopping 15″ last night for a total of 19″ of new snow this week — and it’s still snowing!

Durango, Colo. – James Coleman, managing partner of Mountain Capital Partners, today announced an acquisition agreement to manage and operate Brian Head Resort in Southern Utah. Mountain Capital Partners currently owns and operates seven ski and bike resorts throughout the Southwest, including Colorado, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. Brian Head is the second Utah-based ski resort to join the MCP collective, alongside Nordic Valley Ski Resort in Northern Utah.

10 Days To Our Scheduled Opening!

We’re counting down the last few days before the 2019-2020 season is scheduled to kick off at Snowbowl!

On Friday November 22, we’re planning to open the Grand Canyon Express high-speed chairlift, accessing four intermediate trails (Midway Catwalk, Logjam, Wild Turkey, and Round Up) plus select terrain park features. The Little Spruce conveyor lift is also planned to be open, offering access to beginner terrain. Opening plans are weather dependent, so please check our Snow Report page for the latest updates on opening day!
