Arizona Snowbowl offers some of the most spectacular views in the Southwest—but on weekends, you’ll discover there’s even more to experience.
Every Friday through Sunday through Labor Day, the Roving Rangers are stationed at the top of the Arizona Gondola to help guests connect with the incredible landscape surrounding them. From identifying distant landmarks to sharing stories about the San Francisco Peaks, these interpretive talks turn a scenic ride into an unforgettable learning experience.
At 11,500 feet, visitors can enjoy panoramic views stretching across northern Arizona. On clear days, you may even spot the Grand Canyon, historic Route 66, Sedona, and the surrounding volcanic landscape. The Roving Rangers are there to answer questions and share fascinating insights about the area’s geology, wildlife, forests, and natural history.
The program is a partnership between the Coconino National Forest and Flagstaff Area National Monuments, bringing together passionate volunteers who love sharing their knowledge of public lands. Many of the Rangers have been volunteering at Snowbowl for years, helping guests of all ages gain a deeper appreciation for one of Arizona’s most remarkable mountain landscapes.
Whether you’re visiting for the views, escaping the summer heat, or exploring northern Arizona for the first time, keep an eye out for the Roving Rangers at the top of the Arizona Gondola. Stop by, ask a question, and discover something new about the landscape surrounding you.
