On Saturday, January 18, Snowbowl’s triple chairlift, Agassiz, experienced a mechanical issue that closed the lift and Agassiz has remained closed since that time. We’re currently investigating the issue and have every intention of running the lift as soon as possible. Our priority is our guest and employee safety, and we will not operate the lift until the mechanical issue has been resolved.
Please know that we’re working very hard to resolve this quickly – and thoroughly. Our lift mechanics are actively working on Agassiz. We anticipate this closure will not last more than a week or two, although we do not have an opening date at this time. Once we have a confirmed date, we will announce it on the snow report.
Meanwhile, we invite you to continue to enjoy the phenomenal conditions at Snowbowl! We welcomed 2020 with one of the deepest snowpacks in the country, and 82% of our terrain remains open, even while Agassiz is closed. Thanks for your patience as we work through this. I also want to use this opportunity to thank our professional and hard-working staff who have worked non-stop since this issue was detected. Like you, we are skiers and snowboarders, and we are eager to ride Agassiz again, and soon. More importantly, however, we are family and your safety is the driving force behind everything we do.
We will keep you posted.
