Where do I go when I arrive at Purgatory Resort?

When do group lessons begin and how long do they last?

Full Day Adult Group Lessons: 10am – 3:30pm (with a break for lunch from Noon – 1pm)

Full Day Kids Lessons: 10am – 3:30pm (includes lunch from Noon – 1pm)

Half Day Adult Green Level Lessons: 10am – 12:30pm and 1 – 3:30pm

Half Day Adult Mountain Experience Blue/Black Level Lessons: 10am – 12:30pm

Half Day Kids Lessons: 1 – 3:30pm

3 Year Olds Lessons: 9 – 10am


When should I arrive for my group lesson?

Please arrive at least 1 hour before your lesson begins if you need to rent equipment (earlier during holiday periods). Purgatory Rentals opens at 8am.

Morning Group Lessons

Adults meet at 9:45am

Kids meet at 9:30am

3 year olds meet at 8:45am

Afternoon Group Lessons

Adults and Kids meet at 12:45pm


Where do classes meet?

All classes meet in the base area. View Base Area Map

Kids classes meet at the bottom of Twilight Lift 4.

Private lessons meet at the Private Lessons shed.


What’s the difference between a group lesson and a lesson package?

Lesson packages include lift ticket, lesson and rental equipment. Lesson packages for children (12 years old and younger) include a helmet and lunch. We also sell group lessons which include instruction only, without the lift tickets or equipment rentals.


How many students are in a group lesson?

Adult classes usually have 8 students.

3 year olds group classes are limited to 3 students.

4-5 year old classes are limited to 5 students.

Class size for 6-12 year olds is approximately 8 students per class.


If I have never skied or snowboarded before, which lesson should I choose?

We recommend that you sign up for the Full Day First Timer Package which includes your lesson, beginner area lift ticket and rental equipment. If you have equipment and/or a lift ticket, you can purchase just a First Timer Full Day Lesson.


Which lesson should I choose for my child if they have never skied or snowboarded before?

Children who are “First Timers” will be grouped when they meet for their lesson. Choose the Full Day Kids Lesson Package (which includes lift ticket and rental equipment) or the Full Day Group Lesson (no lift ticket or rental equipment). All kids are grouped according to their ability level.


What should we wear for our lessons?

Be sure to wear water resistant snow pants, eye protection (goggles or sunglasses), water resistant gloves or mittens, one pair of socks, sunscreen and dress in layers.


Do I need to make reservations for group lessons?

Group lessons do not require advanced reservations except during peak holiday periods. We ask that you prepay for all advanced reservations.


Can I request an instructor for my group lesson?

We assign instructors to group lessons by ability level so the only way to request an instructor is to schedule a private lesson in advance.


What time can my child take a half day lesson?

Half day lessons for kids are available only in the afternoon. They meet at 12:45 and lessons begin at 1pm.


Can I be there to watch my child’s lesson?

We don’t recommend it because we feel it may interfere with the group dynamics.


Do I need to make a reservation for a Private Lesson or a Friends & Family Private Lesson?

Yes, we require advanced reservations for private lessons to ensure that we will have an instructor available for you. Prepayment is required for private lessons. If you must cancel your reservation, please let us know at least 48 hours in advance or we are required to charge a $52 cancellation fee.


Are lift tickets and equipment included in the cost of a Private Lesson?

No, you will need to purchase lift tickets and rental equipment.


What time do lessons break for lunch?

Lessons generally break for lunch between Noon – 1pm. Lunch is included in kids full day group lessons.


Are there any minimum ages or size requirements for snowbike lessons?

Yes, a person must be at least 14 years old and 5 feet tall to use our snowbikes.
