Thank You, Snowbowl Family

Dear Snowbowl Guests and Family,

In these unprecedented times, we understand that each day can be a challenge. As we all find ourselves adjusting to a new reality, we also find ourselves looking forward to the future – to more good times with friends, more family ski trips, and more powder days.

Arizona Snowbowl is more than a mountain. This is a family – of snowboarders, of skiers, of dreamers, and explorers. From Flagstaffians to Phoenicians, locals to travelers, Snowbowl is here not only because of our employees and guests, but also because of our local communities. We’re proud to be a part of the Arizona family.

Over the last 3 years, we have weathered a bad snow season, a forest closure, a major lift malfunction and now COVID-19. Despite these storms and while on this journey, we have worked tirelessly to live by our mission: “give people the freedom to ski”. We continue to monitor the situation closely as it unfolds and wanted to take this opportunity to summarize some of the things we are doing to support our entire community.

  • Although all seasonal employees have now ended their winter employment, we are continuing to offer work and pay approximately 50 year-round staff to perform essential duties, work from home or use accrued holiday and vacation time should they elect not to work due to the pandemic. A handful of employees have elected to take advantage of CARES Act programs.

  • We have applied for financial assistance through the CARES Act Paycheck Protection and Economic Injury Disaster Loans programs, with the hope to keep our year-round staff employed for the foreseeable future and when we ultimately reopen the resort.

  • The new Agassiz lift project is on track, with construction slated to begin this summer.

  • If local and federal health guidelines allow, we will offer a vibrant summer season beginning as soon as June 19.

  • Our 2020/2021 season pass sale will launch with new products, added values, and updated terms and conditions in light of the things that are happening in our world today. We are excited to announce 1% of pass sales will go to supporting local small businesses affected by COVID-19, with beneficiaries named at a later date.

Thank you for joining during the 2019/2020 season – through the 115 days and the 200″ of snow. When this is over, we know you’ll be eager to get outside again, and we’ll continue to offer a place for you to enjoy skiing, snowboarding and the mountain lifestyle.

We hope that you and your loved ones are doing well and staying safe during this time. There are many more great times and great memories ahead, and we hope you’ll join us in creating them again soon.
