Summer 2021 Improvements

At Snowbowl, we’re committed to continually improving the overall mountain and guest experience. This summer, several projects are scheduled to take place that will help enhance recreational access, beautify the resort and surrounding areas, and create an even better experience for visitors in the future.

Upper Mountain Snowmaking

To help provide more consistent conditions on the upper mountain, additional snowmaking coverage will be added from Spur Catwalk into Lower Bowl. This project was approved in the 2005 Record of Decision (ROD) issued by the Coconino National Forest, after a comprehensive environmental impact study. The total project will be limited to approximately 5.6 acres and require roughly 3,500 feet of pipeline and 18 pedestals and hydrants to be installed. When complete, this will help ensure adequate snow coverage in early season as well as low snow years.

Revegetation Projects Near Hart Prairie

At the new overflow parking lot adjacent to Hart Prairie, clean-up projects will take place to restore vegetation and improve the overall appearance. Construction rock debris will be crushed and covered in topsoil, then this will be followed by reseeding and revegetation efforts. In cooperation with the Coconino National Forest, the Snowbowl team will plant additional trees in the areas around the new parking lot.

Expanded Outdoor Seating at Hart Prairie Lodge

The Hart Prairie Lodge outdoor seating area will be expanded and beautified with paver bricks extending from the rear of the lodge to the Grand Canyon Express pedestrian bridge. In addition to improving the overall appearance of this area, this project will add extra outdoor seating space along with new amenities such as outdoor fire pits.

Renovated Lodging and Restaurant

This summer, Ski Lift Lodge and Cabins at the base of Snowbowl Road will officially become Basecamp at Snowbowl. More than a name change, the rebranding of the property also includes updates and improvements to the guest rooms and on-site restaurant to better cater to guests visiting Snowbowl, the Grand Canyon, and the greater Flagstaff area in both summer and winter. Stay tuned for more details!
