Our manufacturer is working on the part needed to repair Agassiz. As we’ve mentioned before, Agassiz Lift is just one of three of its kind in the world, and the broken part – even the metal used to manufacture it – is something that must be built from scratch. The manufacturer is actively working on this now and we’re prepared to work around the clock to install, test and confirm it passes all safety tests.
The question we continue to ask (and receive questions about) is this: when will Agassiz re-open? Here is what we know today: we expect the part to be delivered in early March. As a result, we intend to operate Agassiz Lift in March – that is our goal! Safety remains our number one priority and we will not run the lift until we know it is safe for everyone – our employees, our guests, our families and friends – to use. As we receive more updates (and a confirmed opening date), we will update you here.
In the meantime, we invite you to join us at Snowbowl. The upper mountain remains open everyday for hike-to access and we have several events this holiday weekend, including a ski and snowboard giveaway on Saturday, beer tastings at Fremont, live music and a special appearance from the National Forest Foundation on Sunday at noon, where we will present them with the $12,500 you helped us raise for projects in our local forest.
